carman hunter

  • [info]carmanxhunter; friend

  • [carman] is one of the newer friends that [joey] has made upon returning to bristol. although at first you would never think two people so different would meet, much less like each other, but joey and carman are the opposite. they get along perfectly well and even exchange witty banter at times. carman is much more carefree than joey is and this results in a majoirty of conversation differences as well as emotional ones. joey contributes a very witty air to their relationship and when he needs a load off his mind, it is always carman to encourage him to open up and share what he's thinking.

  • "Oh, I will. If I had to grow up resisting the charm of my brother, I can resist you."

  • "One day I'm going to owe you so much that I may as well marry you."

cassie deeley

  • [info]mockingbirdy; friend

  • [cassie] and [joey] have been friends ever since they were little. when joey was young, he met cassie because she was a grade above him in school. they quickly became friends for many reasons - mostly for enjoying one another's company - and because of joey's childhood crush on her. however, she was motivated by her huge crush on his brother [eddie loke] and while joey knew this, he still invited cassie over because he liked her. despite this information, cassie had the privilege of stealing joey's first kiss as well as he stole hers and they had been friends ever since. throughout school, joey trusted cassie with his thoughts and told her just about everything that he thought. he wasn't very emotionally open with many people but there were a few times where he told cassie how he felt about certain situations. they grew apart for a few years because of joey going off to pursue his education in a different state, but they kept in contact while he was away. joey and cassie are as close as peas in a pod and she calls him all sorts of crazy nicknames. in return, joey retaliates with sarcastic and witty jokes that make up for it. although he likes to joke about being annoyed by her, he does appreciate her friendship.

  • "I have a habit of being funny and everyone else appreciating it except you."

  • "Firstly, I would like to tell you that I liked being part of the All Girls plus Joey club."

diana silver-haley

  • [info]diacidity; friend

  • [diana] is another one of the new people [joey] has met. because she works at the local diner that joey has been to multiple times, they are on a familiar level. when he comes in, she recognizes him and is always kind and polite. diana and joey get along because diana sees all of her old high school potential in him. when he talks about school, this reminds diana of the things that she left out of her life. however, since she is very amiable and friendly, joey teases her. for the most part, it usually is teasing on behalf of diana's singing - although he might say atrocious, it is certainly not - as well as her normally sunny disposition and chirpy voice. they are not very close friends, but fairly acquainted.

  • "Quit blinding me with your rainbow twinkle toes, Di."

  • "Diana is to blame for this. Where is that crazy girl?"

eddie loke

  • [info]unsteadyeddie; brother

  • the closest person to [joey] out of everyone in his life has to be his older brother [eddie]. growing up with eddie is something that he keeps to himself because no matter how many stories he tells, no one can ever understand what it was like to live in the loke household. although joey did not rise out of his brother's charming shadow, he used to enjoy standing in his shadow as a child. joey nearly demanded attention for the first few years. after around the age of two, joey figured any and all battling for attention was over - especially since eddie seemed to get most of it anyway. he resorted to being quiet, calm, and cool. he rescinded into the shadows of his brother and idolized him while still being upset with having to be known to many as eddie's younger brother. during eddie's high school years, joey was still in elementary school and although he heard a lot of vicious stuff about his brother and certain types of drugs and the like, he still chose to ignore them and insist that his brother could never do something like that. he would have taken anything negative people said about his brother and called the other person a liar, even if it was proven true. growing up was difficult, especially because joey and eddie were nothing alike. people expected joey to have the same radiant charm as his brother - but why would he have it? they lived together and joey always felt like because eddie was the charmer, he could always be something different. he grew used to teachers talking about eddie and joey shot to academic excellence to be recognized by his teachers. a natural with most subjects, he accomplished landing in the teachers good graces because of his academic excellency. now that joey is much older, he finds it much easier to talk about how things were with eddie. he never hid from his brother how he felt about living underneath his shadow and it is something that they continue to joke about. joey finds it easier to talk about how things were in their childhood. it doesn't bother him much but it is mostly because of eddie's influence that he is the person he is today.

  • "I just don't know how to say no to you, you big oaf."

  • "I think my brother being sick is a more accurate excuse. It's not quite all there, I'll say."

erin marone

  • [info]doppelganged; friend

  • when [erin] first moved to bristol, [joey] knew he didn't recognize her. although he never said anything to her in their childhood years, he always knew she was there and knew her name, but he had never really thought to ask much else from her. in his sophomore year, he and erin had their first conversation when he had needed to borrow a pencil from her and he had found himself a real, genuine friend. joey appreciated erin for being one of the only people to notice him before [eddie], which was rare considering the fame his brother had gotten for himself. their friendship did not stay on this level in their junior year and ended with them becoming friends with benefits. towards the end of joey's senior year, he lied to erin and told her that he was not going to yale. but after graduation, he did indeed make his way to new haven to attend the prestigious university. when erin found this out from eddie, she was absolutely furious and wrote to joey about why he had done this. he replied in telling her he would be attending for only four years, but this was another lie. joey stayed at yale for ten years and when he finally started commuting between bristol and new haven, he avoided erin like the plague. but now, things have changed after twelve years and joey is avidly trying to work things out between them.

  • [info]bobmarlie; niece
